Jackpot! An oasis in NE Nevada

A recent flight from the San Francisco area to Wyoming called for a refuel & refresh stop in northeastern Nevada. Among the few choices, Jackpot, Nevada had cheaper fuel and some good reviews on airnav.com. In fact, the hotel & pool within walking distance of the field convinced us to stay an extra day. While the casino won't thrill anyone  used to Las Vegas, the rooms were reasonable (spring for the nicer Granite Ridge wing, a whopping $69 -- less with AAA) and the pool is reported to be, "the largest in northern Nevada."

The Nevada DOT has a nice one-page diagram [PDF] of the field on their website. The pilot's lounge is the tan concrete block building to the left of the fueling station. It's air conditioned (!) and has restrooms, 50-cent sodas and a phone that will make 800-number calls without any fuss. You can also call any of the casinos in town for a free shuttle. The door is kept locked, but you can call ahead to get the combination or ask at the campground office (they handle fueling, too.)
